About Erigmore

At the heart of Erigmore is an impressive Victorian mansion from which the Estate takes its name. Famous names from history including Dickens, Disraeli and the artist Millais all have connections with the House.

A short stroll away on opposite banks of the river Tay are the sister towns of Birnam and Dunkeld. The Victorian village of Birnam is home to the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Garden which celebrates the life and characters of the well loved author and illustrator. Dunkeld, historic cathedral town and picturesque National Trust village offers fine shops, galleries, antiques and quality food and gifts.

Take a step back in history and visit the Birnam Oak, the last surviving part of the ancient forest as described by Shakespeare in Macbeth. Or, as its big tree country, marvel at the spectacularly large Douglas Firs and look out for salmon at the River Braan’s famous salmon leap.

Different seasons offer their own unique charm, from thick winter frosts glistening on branches, to blue bells carpeting the woods in Spring, beautiful flora and fauna in summer and a glorious display of Autumn in Big Tree Country. Erigmore is truly a holiday destination for all seasons.
